Fashion in Hoi An

Yesterday evening we went to the famous tailor shops of Hoi An.  Joan had come prepared with photos of dresses that she wanted made for her, so she grabbed a saleslady and got to work.  Marina had a very clear idea in her mind of what she wanted, too: red satin pajamas with a dragon embroidered on the back!  The rest of us felt somewhat overwhelmed with the options, and wandered the shop aimlessly.  They have 300 tailors -- or so they say -- and can produce anything overnight at incredibly low prices.  Adam bought a suit, Karl a few jackets, Lenny a vest, me a robe, Missy a dress, and so on.  We are going for fittings later today and it will all be ready by the time we leave tomorrow. 

I forgot one detail from yesterday's hike.  Early in the hike, the guides stopped and pulled out colorful plastic baggies.  They explained that the road ahead was muddy due to construction, and we were to cover our boots with the baggies.  What a scene!  We all stepped into the baggies, secured them with rubber bands, and headed out to slog through the mud.  B&R sure thinks of everything.
