Good Morning, Vietnam!

Image result for sofitel hanoiAfter almost 24 hours of continuous travel, we (and our luggage!) arrived in Hanoi late last night and checked into a wonderful room at the Sofitel Metropole, It was originally built by the French in 1901 and has had guests like Charlie Chaplin, Somerset Maugham and George HW Bush. But it's probably most famous as the place Jane Fonda and Joan Baez stayed at in 1972 during their anti-war protests.

It does feel rather strange to be staying in a country we were at war with when I was growing up. I'm sure we'll get over it.
